Pa's homestead papers describe the family's two homestead buildings. Ma's Little House and the Hay-Roof Barn have been reconstructed on their original locations.

  

Pa built the house in three stages: first a "half-house", then the second half, and finally an addition. The hayroof barn held two horses, two cows, the chickens, and Pa's tools.
